Why would a club dress code not allow striped polo shirts?
I can understand some of the other itemss (ripped jeans, etc.) but why would they specify no “striped” polo shirts?

Because wearing a striped polo shirt is no way to impress a lady.

If you want to come across sophisticated then a solid or print will do. Any good metrosexual knows these rules. Just do what the metrosexuals do or befriend a gay guy.

It’s because club owners feel that a certain dress code attracts a certain type of crowd. They are also able to select who they want to enter and discourage others from attending.
Club owners are in the business of making money. However, they can’t do that when its patrons are rowdy or fighting. People tend to be less rowdy when they are dressed up. Think about it. Wouldn’t you be less likely to initiate or engage a fight if you weren’t wearing Nikes, Sean John Jeans, and a hoodie?
Furthermore, striped polo shirts can be considered too casual for some clubs. Certain shoes must have the right sole in order to be acceptable as well. Some clubs do go over board with the dress code sometimes. I once attended a club that required all men to wear belts.
When visiting a club, it is best to call ahead or check the club’s website for dress code information in advance.
